The Mill – Castlemaine
Castlemaine’s old woollen mill has been transformed into a food and artisan precinct. The entire precinct has been built on flat land. There are continuous paths of access throughout the site. The paths are either concrete of smooth paved surfaces. All buildings have wide door access. All ramps in the precinct are gently sloping.
Of particular note is the counter in the Brewery with a recessed front along its entire length making it suitable for wheelchair users.
The Vintage Bazaar and Platform No. 5 have very generous access corridors and uncluttered stalls allow easy access to wheelchair users, people using mobility aids, and people with a visual impairment.
There are four toilet locations throughout the precinct each of which contains an accessible unisex cubicle. Accessible parking bays are also provided at each of the main car parks giving direct access to their respective entry doors.
Skydancers Garden, Gift and Cafe – Butterfly House. Castlemaine

Enjoy a coffee or glass of wine in the cafe or tuck in to a delicious breakfast, lunch or sweet afternoon treat, prepared using the best gourmet produce from the region. Find yourself a unique garden accessory, pot or plant and make sure you take a look at the colourful butterflies that are hatching and in flight seasonally from Oct-May.

The car park is fine crushed rock. There are 3 designated disabled parking bays immediately to the left of the entry door.
The entry and all internal pathways are concrete and entry is gained into the café and nursery area through self-opening wide glass doors.
All of the display shelving is low to the ground.
The outdoor nursery has a surface of fine crushed rock. The seeding displays are at 500mm height off the ground.
The butterfly house is accessed through a two-door airlock. The doors are wide and once inside the space is open and easy to move around.
The café has three zones.
The indoor air-conditioned section is accessed from the entry area. There is a section located within the nursery that is located on a deck accessed via a ramp from within the nursery, and finally, an outdoor section accessed from the main café. The surface of the outdoor section is loose gravel.
An accessible toilet is located adjacent to the main sales counter.
Dunolly Bakery
If you are looking for a great lunch stop then you cant go past the Dunolly Bakery located in the main street.
Disabled parking is available in the street and there are well-defined crossing and curb cuts along the length of the historic town. Entry to the bakery is via a wide level entry door. The store is split level between the counter and café area which is ramped with handrails. At the rear of the café is a large accessible toilet.
The display cabinets have good visibility and there is a lower countertop near the cash register.
The café is spacious with good circulation space and the chairs are all movement giving a variety of seating options.
Dunolly Historic Precinct
During the gold rush of the 1850s and 60s, more gold nuggets were discovered in Dunolly and the surrounding district than anywhere else in Australia. The allure of gold still brings prospectors from far and wide trying to find their fortune.
Today, Dunolly’s attractive main street, Broadway, is lined with kurrajongs and gold rush architecture.
The township has a great variety of historic buildings but the old courthouse is a must see. The front entrance is stepped, but there is ramped access around the side of the building. Inside all of the doorways are wide giving access to the main chamber, judges room and clerks office.
At the back of the site are the old stables. They are reached across the lawn area behind the courthouse. The stable doors are wide giving good access to the interior.
Inglewood
The grand historic buildings of Inglewood stand as testament to the wealth that flooded into this area. Today antiques and collectibles stores are clustered amongst the exquisite buildings and historic shopfronts.
The Inglewood historic township is flat. The main street has accessible parking spots. The footpaths are wide with good crossing points with most of the shops and cafes offering level entry. There a good accessible toilet attached to the Inglewood Community Hub located on Market Street. The treasure map and the Sir Reginald Ansett memorial are both located in Verdon Street.
Inglewood Blue Eucy Museum
The Blue Eucy Museum is on the site of the old Eucalyptus Distillery. It contains the historic remains of the distillery, a working model of the distillery process, a café, picnic area and toilet block.
The car park is hard packed fine gravel. From the car park to the main building the path is asphalt and level. Entry into the main building is through wide double doors that are manually operated with a lever doorknob. Door press is light and easily operated. The café, gift shop and display areas are all open with wide aisles and plenty of manoeuvring room. The countertop is low. All chairs can be moved to allow a choice of seating options for wheelchair users and users of other mobility devices. A wide door at the end of the café leads to an accessible outdoor eating area.
The model distillery display has wide entry and some bench seating with plenty of space inside for all types of mobility devices as well as prams and pushers.
The same theatrette has movable seating.
An accessible unisex toilet is located in the toilet block adjacent to the main building.
The historic distillery is reached via a gravel path. The path is new and does contain aggregate up to 50mm in diameter. The path gives access to all areas of the old distillery.
A picnic table and BBQ is located adjacent to the old distillery. It is reached by crossing a relatively hard lawn area. The BBQ and table on a concrete base and covered by a pavilion.
